A local school leads the state of Ohio in its number of National Merit scholars.
Sycamore High School in Montgomery had 31 seniors qualify for the prestigious program.
They qualified by taking the 2006 preliminary SAT.
As semifinalists, they'll have the opportunity to compete to receive part of the $34 million awarded to 8200 National Merit Scholars nationwide next year.
Saint Xavier had the second most semifinalists in our area with 18.
